This marks my last post under the POTD heading. One year of photos. Wow. When I started this project I had no idea what I was getting into. I know that sounds cliche but it’s the truth. I swear. I speak truth. I will be posting a few POTD goodies over the next week – a video, a blurb, some gems I learned this year…Thanks for all who have stuck by me, gone with me on shoots, waited in the car while I freeze, encouraged me, critiqued me, and supported me. I am glad to be done but I will continue to post pictures (and take pictures!). For now – Bye.

I was looking for some peace, quiet, and ice on Saturday. I found all three at Bull Creek in the morning. It was pretty awesome. Except for the annoying teenage girls running around breaking nature; the day was just what I needed.
I just wanted to let you know that I posted the past few days out of their chronological order on purpose. That is all.

I set out to drive 85 miles from Girdwood to the town of Seward Alaska. 3 hours later and I had only driven 68 miles.

Words and photos do this area no justice. These shots were taken while I was sitting in the front passenger seat of a small 4 person helicopter. The blues were really that blue – the ice was just phenomenal. It was something I had never seen before and never realized existed in such fantastic color. The best part of the 1 hour tour was the landing. I was knee deep in glacial snow and loving every minute of it.

Thank you Todd for stopping the car every 3 minutes so I could take photos. Our 45 minute drive ended up taking us about 1.5 hours…

These are a few shots from my first full day in Alaska. As soon as we got to our destination I abandoned Todd, took the Rav4 and headed out to the main highway. They do a great job of creating accessible areas for people to pull over and appreciate the view. I would estimate that there were car pull-out spots at least every 2 miles along the Seward Highway (south of Anchorage). Due to the time of year we visited there wasn’t much light available during the day (about 5 or so hours) and usually the days were cloud covered.

I never did find the receipt. I did however find some money and organized my files so something good came out of the mess.

The video is a special capture of something that KC frequently does (in the grass, on the bed, on the carpet, in your lap, on the couch, on the floor…) Snarfling (Snarfeling is also acceptable).
